A cloak of invisibility provides MC1 and invisibility. Its appearance is chosen at random each game, and (if you're not already invisible) auto-identifies when worn.

If you eat an stalker corpse while invisible from another source, you will gain intrinsic, permanent invisibility. Shopkeepers will not let you enter their shops if you are invisible, so you will need to remove your cloak to enter a shop. If you have invisibility from another source, see invisibility.

In general, this is not a particularly useful cloak. It is easy to gain invisibility intrinsically, making the cloak obsolete. Additionally, it is only MC1, so it is not generally suitable for an ascension kit. However, cloaks of invisibility are reasonably common, and if you find one early on, it is probably a good choice until special attacks become common enough that MC3 becomes useful. However, keep in mind that (true to the name) your character will disappear except for the cursor when you are invisible and do not have see invisible, which many players find annoying.

SLASH'EM

In slash'em, it has an MC of 2. If it happens to be an "opera cloak", it will often appear in the starting inventory of vampires, making it appear more often but then most vampires will be invisible unless the player can see invisible.
