A leather jacket is a form of body armor in NetHack. It has a base AC of 1 and no magic cancellation.
Generation
The Archeologist role starts out with one.
Strategy
The leather jacket is lightweight and does not interfere with spellcasting, but it is the weakest body armor with an actual base AC, and one will do well to replace it with better armor as soon as possible.
