Couatl also possess a crushing attack, or their drowning attack doubles as crushing. YASD

In Slash'em the Couatl can be a gift from a god. I don't know whether it is always a second gift from a god and which gods give them to you. SamSpade 23:48, January 20, 2010 (UTC)

It's a sacrifice minion; lawfuls can receive A's, tengu, and white unicorns, neutrals E's, djinn, and gray unicorns, and chaotics &'s, as well as some minor demons and black unicorns. Lawfuls can also get minions from prayer while in trouble. It's not actually the same thing as a sacrifice gift; it doesn't increase your prayer timeout, and doesn't count towards artifacts created (although sufficiently high-level lawfuls will receive minions which are always generated with artifact weapons, namely Archons, Planetars, and Solars). I don't know how the chances work though, but they seem to be a reasonably regular thing if you're having a sacfest. -Ion frigate 10:04, January 21, 2010 (UTC)

Do these guys have the need +n to hit property? Seems like my +1 spear isn't doing anything to them, and I ran out of charges on my wand of striking! --AileTheAlien 15:21, 7 April 2011 (UTC)

Extra info - valkyrie with expert dagger skill, basic spear skill, and my +2 dagger kills him just fine. --AileTheAlien 15:28, 7 April 2011 (UTC)
Yes. See Monsters with need +x weapon to hit (SLASH'EM). The page doesn't say this since the monster template is for Vanilla nethack, which doesn't have the need +x to hit property. -- Qazmlpok 15:35, 7 April 2011 (UTC)
