Do experienced players ever get punished? I for one always identify scrolls before using them (never waste charging ...) and pray only when I know it won't take away my protection. Needless to say, I have never been punished. :Tjr 14:57, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

In SLASH'EM the Doppelganger's liquid leap technique can be used to escape the ball and chain, should this be listed in this article somewhere?

Wrapping the ball's weight

It would take nearly 15 million c?oPunishment to wrap around an iron ball's weight. Also, it's unsigned, so its weight would wrap around to 224 — just under half its normal weight. --GreyKnight

Heavier Balls

Does having a heavier ball attached to you have any downsides beyond being an inconvenience when it's in your inventory? IRL it would slow you down more. --194.116.198.185 11:36, 8 July 2013 (UTC)

"IRL it would slow you down more" - it is also true in NetHack, see Encumbrance Bulwersator (talk) 05:59, 9 July 2013 (UTC)
That only applies if you're carrying the ball, though. —bcode talk | mail 06:04, 9 July 2013 (UTC)
You almost certainly are. The speed penalty from dragging the ball is massive (you lose the turn every time the ball moves, although it doesn't slow you down during combat if you aren't moving), so taking the burden penalty instead is often a wiser idea. Ais523 (talk) 06:24, 9 July 2013 (UTC)
so the answer to my question is no? there would come a point, then, when you couldn't keep hold of the ball to carry it but you could still drag it with no extra penalty. --194.116.198.185 12:30, 9 July 2013 (UTC)

Balls and Bags

  • The page makes no mention of containers. Ease of coding suggests that "you can't do that" is the route they took. Perhaps someone with wizmode could check and report back? --195.2.244.193 13:06, 28 November 2014 (UTC)
The message when you try to put it into a container is "You must be kidding".

Iron Ball of Liberation

Question. From my observation if you have the Iron Ball and get punished then a normal iron ball simply falls at your feet rather than gets attached to you. Is that true? I've only observed this once. Ndwolfwood 06:38, 12 December 2014 (UTC)
