Only works for the first time?

Gnome ranger playthorugh, first time using a gnome so I was excited about tinker. First time I used was to create a magic whistle, which worked just fine. All subsequent uses, like on cloaks, arrows, a harp and a few more objects that SHOULD be upgradable according to the Upgrade page, didn't work. I used the technique, the turns passed normally but I ended up with the same object I started with. I tried to make another magic whistle and it didn't work too.

I'm considering that it has a chance to work (depending on tech level maybe?) and I got lucky on the first time. Still gotta do wizmode testing. btw the version is SLASHEM 0.0.7E7F3--Jundavr (talk) 00:32, 20 June 2017 (UTC)



Just finished wiztesting. Apparently it works on chances.

On techlevel 1 I tried to upgrade 10 different tin whistles, and only one of them turned into a magic whistle. I tried again, this time consecutively upgrading the same whistle, and this time none of them worked, so apparently tinkering the same item over and over doesn't increase the chances of succes.

On techlevel 5, 10 and 20 I redid the same testing. At level 10, 3 out of 10 whistles upgraded. I redid the testing, and none upgraded, so I'm guessing it was just a fluke. At 20 only 1 out of 10 upgraded, and I got this same result for 3 consecutive tests, and 0 out of 10 on the fourth test. My guess is that techlevel only slightly reduces the turns needed to tinker (as currently stated on the page, I didn't test that), and has no effect whatsoever on succes rates. I'll make a minor edit on the page stating that the technique has only a small chance of succes.--Jundavr (talk) 02:03, 20 June 2017 (UTC)
