In [[UnNetHack]], the '''Caveman''' or '''Cavewoman''', sometimes referred to as the '''Caveperson''', is one of the [[role]]s from ''[[NetHack]]'' that is available to the [[hero]].

Cavepeople can be of [[lawful]] or [[neutral]] [[alignment]], and can be [[Human (starting race)|humans]], [[Dwarf (starting race)|dwarves]] or [[Gnome (starting race)|gnomes]].

==Starting equipment==
Each Caveperson starts with the following equipment:

* a +1 [[club]] ([[wielded]])
* a +2 [[sling]] (alternate weapon)
* 10-22 [[flint stone]]s
* 18-33 uncursed [[rock]]s
* +0 [[leather armor]]

Cavepeople have a {{frac|4}} chance of starting with a pet [[wolf]] and a {{frac|12}} chance of starting with a pet [[winter wolf cub]], and will otherwise be given a [[kitten]] or [[little dog]] with equal probability. If the player sets the option to always start with exotic pets, then a Caveperson has a {{frac|3|4}} chance of starting with a pet wolf and a {{frac|4}} chance of starting with a pet winter wolf cub.

Cavepeople start with ''Basic'' skill in clubs, slings and bare-handed combat. They use the [[intelligence]] stat to cast spells, and their [[special spell]] is {{+ of|dig}}.

==Special rules==
Cavepeople do not suffer any penalty for [[cannibalism]], including the [[aggravate monster]] property given from eating [[domestic]] [[canine]] or [[feline]] [[corpse]]s.

Cavepeople never get [[nausea]] from eating [[tripe ration]]s.

Cavepeople are capable of [[taming]] winter wolf cubs domestically with [[thrown]] [[food]].

Cavepeople [[reading]] [[scroll]]s will ''always'' produce the same results as other heroes reading that scroll while [[confused]].

Cavepeople get a +1 [[multishot]] bonus when [[throwing]] [[spear]]s or firing proper [[ammunition]] from a sling.

==Quest==

The Caveperson's [[quest]] sees them fighting the [[Chromatic Dragon]] for [[The Sceptre of Might]], an [[artifact]] [[mace]]. The quest itself is unchanged, but the quest monsters that are generated are entirely different from the quest in ''NetHack''.

The Sceptre of Might has +1d5 [[to-hit]] and deals double damage against monsters of a different [[alignment]] from the artifact, and grants [[magic resistance]] while carried [[Invoking]] The Sceptre of Might toggles hungerless [[conflict]] on or off, and conflict caused by the artifact ends once it leaves the main inventory.
