The skeletal pirate is a type of [[strong]], [[humanoid]] [[Demon (monster class)|demon]] being that is a stronger relative of the [[skeletal pirate]], but is a [[major demon]] rather than being undead: it is [[unbreathing]] and [[mindless]] like skeletal pirates, has [[infravision]], displays a tendency to [[wander]] while moving, and will [[collect items]] that it comes across. Like other pirate monsters, skeletal pirates have a mutual [[grudge]] with [[mercenaries]], and they will attack a Pirate [[hero]] that has [[The Treasury of Proteus (Pirate patch)|The Treasury of Proteus]] in their open inventory.

Damned pirates have a single [[weapon attack]], and possess [[fire resistance]], [[sleep resistance]], [[poison resistance]], [[stoning resistance]], [[death resistance]], [[drain resistance]], and [[immunity to sickness]]. They have a weakness to [[silver]]. Damned pirates are capable of flanking the hero.

[[Chatting]] to a damned pirate will freeze the hero in place for a few turns regardless of hostility, and [[free action]] will not prevent this.

==Generation==
Damned pirates are not randomly generated, likely due to an error in implementing the patch. and normally-generated skeletal pirates are always created hostile. They are not a valid genocide target.

For a Pirate hero that has their [[quest artifact]] in open inventory and is in [[Gehennom (SpliceHack)|Gehennom]], {{frac|5}} of randomly-generated monsters will be small [[group]]s of demonic pirates.

Some damned pirates are generated on the [[Pirate quest/Hack'EM|Pirate quest]] during level creation: one is placed randomly on the locate level, one each is placed on the lower filler levels, and 3 are placed randomly on the goal level.

Damned pirates are [[generated with]] a cursed [[scimitar]] and cursed [[Erosion|burnt]] [[leather armor]], and like other pirate monsters they have a {{frac|2}} chance of generating with a [[Frag grenade (SLASH'EM)|frag grenade]].
