In EvilHack, the eyeball is the [[base item]] for an [[artifact]] called [[The Eye of Vecna]], while in Hack'EM it is the base item for an artifact called [[The Eye of the Beholder]].

==Generation==
Eyeballs are not randomly generated, though they can be [[wish]]ed for or found in [[bones]], including those containing The Eye of Vecna in EvilHack or The Eye of the Beholder in Hack'EM.

==Description==
[[Eating]] an eyeball grants 10 [[nutrition]], and attempting to eat one so will produce a warning prompt asking the player if they are sure they want to, a trait shared with the [[severed hand]].{{refsrc|eat.c|2390|version=SLASH'EM 0.0.7E7F2|name="badeye"|comment=Note that the code only checks if the eyeball is an artifact before inflicting damage, not ''which'' artifact it is; any artifact eyeball will thus do so.}}

In EvilHack and Hack'EM, it instead grants 5 nutrition, and does not bring up a prompt unless the [[hero]] is eating The Eye of Vecna in EvilHack or The Eye of the Beholder in Hack'EM.

Regular eyeballs are not of much use as food due to their minimal nutrition, though eating them does not inflict severe damage as ingesting the artifact eyeballs would. Their rarity may make them enticing keepsakes for certain players.
