A couple of comments about 3.6.1, versus 3.6.0 and 3.4.3, as I had to reinstall recently.

Like the "login" process, although I play Barbarians/Neutral/Male all the time.

In past versions I virtually never saw magic cloaks, so was always waiting to get a wish for grey dragon scale mail, and would quit games if I stepped on a polymorph trap and lost hours of good armor. Magic cloaks seem to be a lot more common.

Amulets seem a lot less common.

Don't find nearly as much gold laying around.

Don't find nearly as much good armor in the Gnomish Mines.

Nice that better armor is most often blessed

Opponents seem to hit harder/faster. There is a rhythm, and it seems I often die one turn before I expect I'd need to pray.

Can't select "A"-all when wanting to empty my sacks all at once, which is annoying and time-consuming. Seems it would have been more work to take that option out than to leave it in.

Can't make the top area of the screen bigger, so I no longer eat tins as I can't tell what is in them as there is only one line of comment and it immediately scrolls off for tins.

Like the addition of colors but had to modify them so I could actually read some things, at least with the particular laptop and OS.

+: I don't think you have to nuke anything, unless your nethack package maintainer likes to add in weird random patches for some reason. But it's easily confirmed that the frequencies of armor (or more specifically magical cloaks) haven't changed: see [[Source:NetHack_3.4.3/src/objects.c#Cloaks]] and compare with [[Source:NetHack_3.6.1/src/objects.c#line444]]. Nor has the relative frequency of amulets; compare mkobjprobs in 3.4.3 and 3.6.1 mkobj.c. You can similarly compare the code in mksobj() correlating blessedness with positive enchantment, and the code in m_initweap() assigning gear to gnome/dwarf/hobbit monsters, to confirm that those are the same between both releases.

+: With containers, just to make sure we're doing the same thing, I apply the bag, select o to take out objects, and then the A option for "Auto-select every item" appears, at the top. (Same thing for putting into the bag.) 		+	I disagree, or at least what I'm seeing is very different from what I've seen in recent times, and I play enough to see a real trend.

		+	I play this a lot, as I'm watching TV, when the program isn't one I care for. I probably already well over 100 hours of play with 3.6.1, probably closer to 200. I've played Nethack for decades, but never messed with the conf file much.

		+	I almost never saw magic cloaks. As rare as Helms of Telepathy, which feels about the same now as I haven't seen one yet.

		+	I want to say I'm only seeing about 10% of the number of amulets I had in prior releases.

		+	There is a night and day difference in the armor I find in Gnomish Mines. I'd always thought that having "plus" armor be already bless or carried by higher level monsters made sense, but never saw that. Maybe I read too many David Drake books.

		+	: A lot of these observations are just due to random chance; most item generation rules are the same in 3.6 as they were in 3.4.3. In particular, magic cloaks, amulets, and the armor in the Mines didn't get any changes. Well-enchanted armor already tended to generate blessed. Gold, on the other hand, did in fact become much less plentiful in the early dungeon.

		+	Also, at least when I'm using two-handed weapons, likes two-handed swords and battle axes, when I attack one monster I may kill the one next to it also, so it feels like I'm attacking them at the same time.
