==Description==
Ghanadaur is a chaotic god of unholiness and its minions consist of hedrow warriors, hedrow wizards, driders, shoggoths, priests of Ghanadaur and priestesses of Ghanadaur. Its crowning gift is [[DNetHack_artifacts#The_Ruinous_Descent_of_Stars|Ruinous descent of the stars]], a chaotic intelligent drow-favoring silvered morning star whose base item is a morning star made of silvered metal. Ruinous descent of the stars deals double damage and always gains double strength bonus (up to +16 at 25 strength, instead of +8) like a two-handed weapon, even when being in used in two-weapon combat. At less than 100 sanity it deals additional acid damage based on lost sanity, (2d12 at 52 or less sanity).

After gaining more than 6 insight, Ruinous descent of the stars also deals +1d6 fire damage for every 6 insight. After passing the threshold of 42 points of insight the artifact may summon falling stars on a hit, causing up to 6 physical and fiery explosions dealing 6d6 damage each, all centered on the same random point anywhere on the level. The chance and maximum number of explosions rises with insight, always triggering and causing up to 7 explosions at insight higher than 72. When invoked, ruinous descent of the stars will cause up to 1d4 clusters of fiery explosions and earthquakes at random places on the current level (based on character level). While carried, ruinous descent of the stars grants magic resistance.

Ghanadaur appears in ''Lords of Madness'' (2005) as a god to abberations, specifically as a lord of oozes, slimes and other shapeless underground monsters. Its main body of worshippers consists of renegade drow and Aboleths, however Ghanadaur is prone to unpredictable whims and does not particularly favor any of its followers and does not necessarily reward those who wish to curry its favor. It also goes by the name of the Elder Eye and is part of the drow pantheon, though only nominally. Its symbol, which also appears in dNetHack on drow armor and signet rings as a holy symbol, is that of a purple black eye inlaid on a black circle.
