Several '''grabbing attacks''' exist in [[NetHack]]; all of them share the property of rendering the player unable to move (''You cannot escape from the [[foo]]!'').

* The most common is also confusingly referred to as a '''grabbing attack''', most famously possessed by [[owlbear]]s. This is reflected by the messages ''[[foo]] grabs you!'' and ''You are being crushed.'' (or ''You are being choked.'' in the case of [[rope golem]]s). Apart from the inability to move (and extra damage from being crushed) there are no additional ill effects.
