'''Innards''' are a quality possessed by most monsters in [[dNetHack]], [[notdNetHack]] and [[notnotdNetHack]]. Monsters without innards aren't susceptible to the [[Singing Sword]]'s tune of opening, and can't be raised as skeletal minions by the [[DNetHack_artifacts#Staff_of_Necromancy|Staff of Necromancy]]. They also cannot be damaged by [[Otiax]]'s "Open" active power. Monsters that do not possess innards and also don't possess blood are also unaffected by an [[Ancient of blessings|Ancients of blessings's]] exhalation (but not inhalation). [[Star spawn]]s can bypass [[DR]] for the purposes of their [[intelligence drain]]ing attacks, unless the monster has no innards. While [[polymorph]]ed into a monster without innards, a [[hero]] may also benefit from these effects. Students of the [[reanimation]] philosophy cannot use a monster's corpse for their reanimation research if it does not possess innards.
