I would guess that the person who wrote the spoiler thought that eating giants is like eating mind flayers, where you have a 50% change of telepathy and a 50% chance of +1 intelligence. For giants, you always get the strength increase, and you have a mlevel/15 chance of gaining the fire/cold/shock resistance.
