 : From my own use of this artifact, I know that the portals do not persist. You #[[invoke]] the artifact, a portal appears, you walk through, and the portal immediately disappears. I never tried to flee a non-teleport level using this method, but after reading the code at [[artifact.c#line1309]], I think that it would work. (If the top [[quest]] level is no-teleport, you can still take the [[quest portal]] back to the main dungeon. This would be similar, except that the portal is not permanent.) 		+	I used fingerof death quite regurlarly with that. Also, in slash'em, it allows the cast of enchant armor much quicker.
