A treesinger is a type of monster that appears in dNetHack, notdNetHack, and notnotdNetHack. It is a type of humanoid elf that can see through infravision, can see invisible and has lowlight vision 3. They have basic martial prowess, 3 in the "dodge" category, and will pick up weapons and food items they come across. Treesingers have a single weapon attack and can sing support songs intermittently.

Like all elves, they are vulnerable to iron and will take +1d14 damage from iron weapons and have their natural regeneration penalized while in direct contact with iron items. For every level above their base level, treesingers gain a +0.75 base attack bonus, up to their maximum of level 19. They can only be warded by Gorgoneions, with a 33% chance per level of reinforcement, or by the yellow sign.

Eating a treesinger corpse, tin, or quaffing its blood always grants sleep resistance for another 5,250 turns.

Generation
<!-- tbd -->
*Trees generated in the main dungeon during level creation will be attended by a treesinger.
* Treesingers may be generated as part of some quests:
** Treesingers are generated as part of the Bard quest:
** Treesingers may be generated as plague victims in the drow Healer quest
* Two treesingers are generated in the entryway to the conservatorium, generated adjacent to two trees
Treesingers not generated in the Mordor Ruins Quest will always be peaceful.

Treesingers are always generated with an elven cloak, elven toga, elven boots, wooden elven helms, elven shields, two elven spears and an elven broadsword.

Description
Smithing
Treesingers are smiths and are always generated with the knowledge on how to make the following items:
colspan=2 | Weapons !! Armor !! Tools
Elven arrow || Elven spear || Elven helm || Blindfold
Elven dagger || Elven sickle || Elven toga || Box
Elven short-sword || Elven broadsword || Elven cloak || Flute
Elven lance || Elven mace || Elven shield || Lock pick
Elven bow || Boomerang || Elven boots|| Pick axe
Club || Quarterstaff || Gloves || Sack
Treesingers are unique among smiths in that they do not require a forge to create items. Instead, a treesinger needs to be adjacent to a tree to make items. A treesinger also does not have a stockpile of wood they keep track of; instead, for as long as the treesinger is next to a tree, they can create items indefinitely. If a treesinger is cancelled, they will lose their ability to smith items until they have quaffed a potion of gain energy.

A treesinger will always charge for their services unless they are tame. All items made by a treesinger are made of wood except for flimsy items, which are instead made of cloth. An item made of cloth or flimsier material will still be made of that material when copied.
