The '''wand of wind''' is a new wand introduced in [[SporkHack]] and subsequently adapted into many variants.

== Effects ==
In all variants, a '''wand of wind''' can [[hurtle]] monsters (possibly into water or lava) and scatters items wherever it is blasted. If a monster is hurtled as a result, this wand will [[auto-identify]]. Big monsters can be hurtled 1-2 spaces, anything smaller can be hurtled 3-5 spaces.

When [[engrave]]d with, it gives the message "The bugs on the floor are blown away!"

If zapped at the ground, it wipes away any engraving on the floor and scatters any items on that square.

If zapped at yourself, it will hurtle you in a random direction and scatter objects at your location: "You are caught up in the winds!"

In [[SporkHack]], this wand can also be used to blow doors apart. It was not enabled for monster use.

If zapped at an open [[drawbridge]], it will destroy the drawbridge.

In [[SpliceHack]], it was renamed to "wand of windstorm" and granted some additional effects. It also costs 300 instead of 150.

In addition to the [[wand of nothing]] and [[wand of wonder]], this wand was also marked as non-magical. This might have been a copy-paste error due to this wand being listed immediately after those other non-magical wands. On engrave, this wand [[auto-identifies]].

When broken, this wand gives the message "A tornado surrounds you!"

In SpliceHack, monsters can zap the wand of wind at you offensively, "You get blasted by hurricane-force winds!"

Zapping this wand inside a [[whirly]] monster will make it expel you: "You blast a hole in <monster>!", otherwise nothing happens and the "<monster> burps."

If you zap yourself, you get the message "Whoosh!". If you are polymorphed into a whirly form, you abuse [[constitution]]. With [[unchanging]] you immediately rehumanize ("The wind blasts you apart!"); without unchanging, you take 5d6 damage. If you aren't a whirly form you don't take any damage. You are, however, not hurtled.

If zapped upward, nothing happens except "You stir up a whirlwind above you!"

If zapped down, nothing happens except "You scour the floor with wind!"

When zapped at a [[drawbridge]], the drawbridge won't be affect but you get this [[YAFM]]: "For all your huffing and puffing, you cannot blow this drawbridge down."

At some unknown date, it was ported into SLASH'EM Extended from Spork, and made it's way into SlashTHEM.
