Beehives contain killer bees and one queen bee. Roughly 1/3 of the squares will contain royal jelly. All residents are asleep when the room is generated.
Generation
A beehive has a 1/5 chance of generating in an ordinary rooms and corridors level that is at least dungeon level 10, and does not have a shop, throne room, leprechaun hall, zoo or temple.[1]
Beehives will not be generated if bees are genocided or extinct.
Special levels with beehives
The Wizard's Tower has a beehive.
Messages
- You hear a low buzzing.
- You hear an angry drone.
- There is a beehive on the level.
- You hear bees in your bonnet!
- There is a beehive on the level, you are hallucinating and wearing a helmet.
- You hear bees in your (nonexistent) bonnet!
- There is a beehive on the level, you are hallucinating and not wearing a helmet.
- You enter a giant beehive!

Strategy
If you have poison resistance and stealth, you can easily fight the bees one by one.
