Ever got annoyed by lack of color differences between monsters/items/dungeon features?
Even this wiki encourages us not to confuse @ Elvenking to @ Wizard of Yendor, though personally I am too unskilled to even meet Rodney.
Personally, I am often annoyed by scrolls. Why all of them are displayed as white ?? If they had different colors, they will be easily distinguished.

- Yeah I don't get it that all scrolls look the same, my variant gives colors to them of course. But I don't know of any other variant that does that, strangely enough. --Bluescreenofdeath (talk) 08:45, 31 October 2020 (UTC)
- From my experience as someone who introduced a bunch of monster color changes (and glyph changes) in xNetHack with the specific goal of trying to get as little overlap as possible, I can say it hasn't gone over particularly well. It has just confused people and I'm considering reverting some of the bigger changes. There might just be too much inertia at this point with what players are used to. That said, there are still some low-hanging fruit color changes that shouldn't be too controversial (for instance, the Wizard's color can be changed to bright magenta, which no monster uses for some reason). --Phol ende wodan (talk) 11:59, 31 October 2020 (UTC)
