  • my lovely dog idefix ate a chameleon corpse and became a titan (L24). while this is awesome i have a slight problem keeping him away from useful npcs. he's already killed the oracle and all the shopkeepers bar one. i'd rather he didn't kill the last general storekeeper because i'm not done price iding. there's also the minetown priest who is coaligned. i need more protection. up until now i could simply lock the titan in a room and he'd stay there. he seems to have found a key from somehwere, though, because that's no longer working. my question? how do i get the key off him? --195.157.154.29 12:06, 28 July 2011 (UTC)
Leave it on another level. Titans are omnivores, so as long as you don't leave it so long it goes feral, you can get its tameness up. It's faster, so you'll have to think of ways to make sure it doesn't tail you everywhere. Probably the best way to do that is to let it eat something: you can get away from it while it's eating, even if it's adjacent to the staircase. Do be careful - since titans eat, they can go hostile if left alone so long that they would starve (as opposed to non-eating pets, which will only ever become peaceful but whose tameness cannot be raised).
I don't think your titan found a key, by the way - he's probably just destroying doors. I'm not sure, but I don't think most pets would pick up a key, even if they could use it. -Ion frigate 17:56, 28 July 2011 (UTC)
Congrats to your good pet. A few nitpicks: Monsters can really use keys (but not other unlocking tools), and noneating pets also have a chance to turn hostile if you leave them alone too long. I've never seen a tame titan bust a door, though. -Tjr 22:28, 28 July 2011 (UTC)
he was a god pet. polyed again (off-screen) into a frost giant, zapped by an elf with a wand of fire. still, now i can look at my "blessed tin of frost giant named idefix" while i do sokoban. --86.174.38.22 21:01, 30 July 2011 (UTC)
