I use Vulture-Nethack and love it. With VR most likely picking up soon, how cool would a VR port be? I'm referring to lower dungeon levels as I am not good at this game.

How does VR work for 3rd person games? Catullus (talk) 02:04, 22 February 2016 (UTC)

No idea and I am a computer guy. I envision nethack as a first person, so you would be able to look around as if you were really there. I think it will happen eventually. Hopefully in my lifetime. Today, Zuckerberg said VR is potentially the best social media and for once I must agree with him.

Pretty cool that a 30 yr old ascii based game will live to see VR.

Just my two cents, but I'm not sure that VR is where NetHack is supposed to go. I mean, I'm biased because I use ASCII, but I've always felt like VR was supposed to be as lifelike as possible, and a turn-based game doesn't seem like it would make sense in such a context. Erfworld is an example of a person being transported to a turn-based world. Admittedly the turns there are longer than a Nethack turn. But it shows that all the things that people do (converse, plan, hope), with the exception of certain key moves, can be constrained within a turn-based system. There are certain moves you just wouldn't be able to make until your opponent had their turn. Wikid (talk) 05:27, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
