"You hear a crunching sound..." guess what that rock mole was eating? No, not a boulder... something far more valuable.

Hmmm... Not quite sure. A very valuable piece of armor? Something from your stash? Elmzran 23:13, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

I'm not entirely sure yet, to be honest. I'm still plucking off creatures. Though, the only thing for a rock mole to munch on in that big petting zoo, I would assume, are the doors and what was soon to be my amulet of reflection! Ipslne 23:18, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

Bahahahaha, oh I'm a failure. I will never actually find out. I wanted to clear my inventory to make room for some nice drops, so I figured drinking that potion of object detection would tell me if that amulet was there, killing two birds with one stone. Turns out I misidentified the potion (looking at one a nymph dropped, and somehow, drinking the dark potion in my inventory, instead of the black potion that would've been object detection). Potion of paralysis. Killed by a dwarf. Yet another YASD (oh that's kind of redundant...) Ipslne 23:24, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

Be careful of assuming that a potion from a nymph is object detection. They can randomly have other potions. I'm not sure if they can be generated with others, but they can certainly pick them up off the floor. I always label a potion from a nymph as "obj det?" and avoid using it until I've at least confirmed that it is the same price as an !OD. Then still be prepared in case it is blindness, which is the same price. --Khearn 01:37, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
Besides object detection, nymphs can only be generated with the same potions other monsters get, too. Offensive item, misc item, defensive item. But they will pick up anything, and death drops confuse the picture if you killed the nymph yourself. --Tjr 01:51, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
Though you can be pretty certain a potion is object detection if you've found it on even two nymphs, given how much higher a probability they have of receiving object detection vs. any other given potion. -Ion frigate 04:00, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
This seems appropriate: [1] --Khearn 00:03, 20 November 2010 (UTC)

Stuff like that happen, Ive done YASDs to me before also, like eating a poisonous corpse by hitting the wrong key. And yes, that is redundant. Elmzran 00:04, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

For future reference, the amulet of reflection is generated on a burned Elbereth square that rock moles can't enter. The mole was probably just munching on some of the gold on the floor of the zoo. --66.23.133.77 23:04, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Ah yeah... I figured this out the next game when I actually obtained the amulet of reflection. However I lost by becoming overconfident and trying to kill the priest in minetown so I could convert the altar. Ipslne 23:09, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Everytime I bust into that room some critter or another has whatever happened to be on the burned Elbereth square. Somehow, something that doesn't respect it, always picks it up and totes it around. It could still be quite true and tragic that the mole at your amulet...
