The introductory paragraph has this:

"has a randomized appearance; the default one associated with it is a hexagonal amulet."

The only explanation here for what "default" means is the citation, which is just a link to the source code. A nethack wiki really ought to obviate the need for source diving. "Default" needs to mean something. Does the "default" appearance of the item in some way affect gameplay? If so, then there should be an article for default and references to default should link to it. The statement that the appearance is randomized seemingly implies that the "default" does not affect gameplay. If this is the case then the reference to the "default" in this article is superfluous. The editors of nethack wiki should figure out what the correct choice is and be consistent about it.

"A nethack wiki really ought to obviate the need for source diving."

Counterpoint: ✨No✨

On top of providing citations that (relatively) help in preventing misinfo, the wiki itself literally facilitates source diving by design - there's templates for citing specific lines and copies of the source code itself on here, for god's sake. If anything, it "should" seek to aid in reading and comprehending the code as well, especially given we have variant devs as editors on here also. --Umbire the Phantom (talk) 02:51, 27 October 2021 (UTC)

While I support the idea that the wiki should promote source diving, I think here it's potentially dangerous for a newbie hacker, who will look at the source code and potentially draw the wrong conclusion about a special link between hexagonal amulets & amulets of reflection

...and that link is what the randomized appearance article is, in part, there to explain. --Umbire the Phantom (talk) 20:30, 27 October 2021 (UTC)
