I'm sorry, but what the hell is the last edit supposed to mean? Why would you want to be polymorphed into a vampire lord in late game?

In the late game, this is great for keeping you polymorphed into a Vampire lord, though bear in mind that you cannot wear an Amulet of life saving at the same time to protect you if you accidentally hit a cockatrice.

After spending about a day trying to figure out why in the world you would ever want to become a vampire lord in the late game, I could think of no good reasons so I gave up and undid the previous change. Gneek 17:47, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

fading polymorphity

Some polymorph causers "fade"/you return to your original form. Is there away to prevent said return? Will this amulet do the job I just described?Slarty 22:59, August 26, 2010 (UTC)

As described in the article, yes. Also, ALL self-polymorph results in returning to your original form if you aren't wearing an amulet of unchanging. -- Qazmlpok 23:06, August 26, 2010 (UTC)

If you polymorph yourself, on purpose or accidentally, you will eventually revert to your normal form. This will always happen after some number of turns (around 1000) or after you run out of HP. In vanilla, this is the only type of polymorph that reverts. Items polymorphing are permanent, as are other monsters. The exception to this is if you are wearing an Amulet of Unchanging while already polymorphed - you will NOT revert back to your original form (except in a few corner cases). Your timeout will never expire, and if you run out of hitpoints you simply die. Another exception exists in SLASH'EM. Drinking a potion of vampire blood will polymorph you into a vampire. This has no timeout, so it is effectively permanent, unless you run out of hitpoints. -- Qazmlpok 22:42, August 27, 2010 (UTC)
