My calculations: 8 from +7 elven helm 8 from +5 cloak of protection 14 from +5 dragon mail 5 from +5 shirt 9 from +7 elven shield 6 from +5 glove/gauntlet 7 from +5 high/iron boots I sum that as 57 not 54.

Good work on the table!! It was on my Userpage wishlist- I'm always visiting the individual entries in my beginning game to weigh up this and that armour.--PeterGFin 19:32, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

How do you take off armor?-- a misc person— Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.181.32.182 (talkcontribs)

Use 'T' for Take off. If it's cursed, you'll have to remedy that first.--Ray Chason 01:13, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

Can we get a section on BUC status of the armors and what the effects are? -- Another misc person.

donning/removing

I haven't been able to find any info on how long it takes to don/remove each piece of armor. This information would make a nice addition to the already fantastic table we have here. -Telis Ravenlight 20:26, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

Robe as body armor in SLASH'EM

In SLASH'EM, I tried to put on a robe over a mithril-coat but it said "You are already wearing some armor." In SLASH'EM, has the robe become a piece of body armor? Dr. 8-Bit 01:49, July 16, 2010 (UTC)

Yes, robes of all types are suits in SLASH'EM. Unlike other suits, though, they don't give Monks a to-hit penalty. Actually, I think it's more accurate to say robes became cloaks in NetHack -- I'm pretty sure both Robes and the Monk role were merged into vanilla after debuting in SLASH'EM. --Darth l33t 07:47, July 16, 2010 (UTC)

Armor/Class Compatibility?

I would like to know what armor works best with classes. I usually play as a wizard and usually only wear leather armor. Can someone put in a section explaining armor/class compatibility? Unless there is none and I could wear any type... - - DemonSlayerThe3 :: The Neutral Gnomish Wizard, with my kitten Ellinis! 18:55, July 23, 2010 (UTC)

That section is the entry "hinders spellcasting". Put roughly, at the start everyone wears whatever you get without burdening you, until your is AC down to about zero. Next, spellcasters gradually swap out anti-caster armor for studded leather etc while staying around AC=0. In the midgame, everyone makes dragon scale mail and swaps in good magical armor, e.g. speed boots. As soon as you have an ascension quality piece of armor and blessed scrolls, enchant it. Hope that helps. Tjr 00:59, July 24, 2010 (UTC)

AC/weight ratio with enchantment

Cathartes, thanks for completing/fixing up the column for AC/weight ratio with enchantment! One minor note: Can anyone think of a good way to indicate that cornuthaums can be enchanted to +7 by Wizards, and thus have a better AC/weight ratio for them? -Actual-nh (talk) 21:27, 11 September 2021 (UTC)

Added a column for AC at maximum practical enchantment, with an explanatory footnote. Cathartes (talk) 21:55, 11 September 2021 (UTC)
