All The Tropes

I've created a page for the variant over at TVT fork All The Tropes. If there's any experienced tropers in the userbase here, I'd love to get some help fleshing out this and the other NetHack-related pages! --Umbire the Phantom (talk) 17:40, 9 December 2020 (UTC)

Modifications vs xNetHack re object materials?

What changes does EvilHack make with regards to xNetHack's object materials patch implementation? -Actual-nh (talk) 13:25, 7 May 2021 (UTC)

Never mind, should have looked at the object materials page's changes first - thanks, Umbire! -Actual-nh (talk) 13:47, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
Looks like Umbire has taken on the revamp of the object materials page. Nice work Umbire! K2 (talk) 14:00, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
Thanks. Much of it was just copying the existing sections from each variant's article over and cleaning it up for readability. --Umbire the Phantom (talk) 16:54, 7 May 2021 (UTC)

Darkness vs Candelabrum of Invocation

I note a couple of mentions of darkness that overwhelms light sources. Would this include the Candelabrum of Invocation, and if so, would that block the invocation ritual? -Actual-nh (talk) 02:30, 3 September 2021 (UTC)

The aura of darkness cast by a lit cursed magic lamp will override the light cast by the lit Candelabrum, but only as far as the magic lamps radius extends. So if you have both a cursed magic lamp and the Candelabrum and light both in a large dark room, you'll see a ring of darkness (cursed magic lamp), and the very outer edge is lit again since the Candelabrum's light radius is greater than a magic lamp by one. Kind of a weird effect. As far as hindering performing the invocation ritual - not at all. K2 (talk) 04:43, 3 September 2021 (UTC)
For discussions sake - darkness from a cursed magic lamp does not override astral vision (The Eyes of the Overworld, The Eye of Vecna). K2 (talk) 04:48, 3 September 2021 (UTC)
