It says they are frequently encountered, but in the monsterbox, it says they're rare. This contradicts itself. --Someone Else 22:58, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

I'm skeptical of using words to describe a monster's frequency. The source code simply uses a number, and this describes the relative probability of a monster being generated. I think the phrases "very rare", "rare", "quite rare", "uncommon", and "common" originate with Ali Harlow's monster manual. --Jayt 23:46, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
Just having a number will confuse most people looking to know more; however using the phrases without specifying what they mean is almost as useless. Perhaps we can use both (e.g. "very rare (1)") and link to some article (say monster frequency, which would need to be created) which explains how a monster is chosen? -- SGrunt 01:05, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

I just got killed by a goblin with a Wand of Death on the second floor down. Is this legal, or some kind of perverse glitch? (I took a screenshot, and will upload and show it here if anyone's skeptical.) 71.198.98.233 09:18, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

The RNG is indeed fickle. See Gnome with the wand of death.--Ray Chason 14:47, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
Okay - talk about creepy... I didn't make the above edit about the goblin with the wand of death - but I was just coming up with random stuff off the top of my head for my user talk page today and... GAH!! The RNG must be in my head.... *RUNS AWAY* --Snicker 19:02, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
