My wizard mode experiments show that a leprechaun becomes burdened if carrying over 3200 $.

It also showed a l cannot ride a dog a la folk legend. In fact he cannot even lift the saddle, even if d were ridable.--PeterGFin 09:48, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

Leprechauns are quite fragile and use stealth and mobility to survive. If you have telepathy and a blindfold, hunting them down with a ranged weapon is quite easy. 85.95.54.253 19:29, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

Displacement?

Is it possible leprechauns have displacement? I've noticed a few times when fighting them that instead of hitting them, I move into their space instead and they move a short distance away. (Using the movement keys to attack by moving into enemies) Is there a way to test this?

In vanilla nethack, monster displacement is not implemented. If you are playing a variant, you could try to corner one, preferrably on a no-teleport level. -Tjr 17:28, September 25, 2009 (UTC)

I have recently seen this behavior myself on NAO. Any explanation? NAO just uses some interface patches, so I doubt leprechauns were changed from vanilla. 76.250.195.145 12:33, 30 July 2011 (UTC)

Leprechauns have a 1/7 chance to dodge when you attack. I added it to the page. Aaxelb 13:22, 30 July 2011 (UTC)

pets (tdttoe?)

  • will a pet leprechaun steal gold from monsters it could not otherwise kill? would this mean that you could gain "infinite" protection? --194.116.198.179 12:04, 26 July 2011 (UTC)

Yes and no. The leprechaun will steal irrespective of its own survival, but it won't attack unless its experience level is high enough, or you conflict it. All my experiments ended with the priest killing the leprechaun in one whack. Next, even with unlimited gold, you won't get unlimited protection. --Tjr 13:58, 26 July 2011 (UTC)

Recent change in xNetHack re leprechauns, etc

See this commit - no longer moved around. -Actual-nh (talk) 21:50, 2 June 2021 (UTC)

Cool, but I was just rearranging present info to better match the format of other pages. If you spot something out-of-date like that, then just go ahead and update - no need for my approval. :B --Umbire the Phantom (talk) 22:12, 2 June 2021 (UTC)
No problem - was trying to make sure we wouldn't be both working on it at once. -Actual-nh (talk) 22:16, 2 June 2021 (UTC)
Ah, in that case it's very much appreciated. --Umbire the Phantom (talk) 22:18, 2 June 2021 (UTC)
Quite welcome! -Actual-nh (talk) 22:19, 2 June 2021 (UTC)
