I edited the page to say that sometimes lichen don't prevent eating, because I had observed such to be so. Further observation: sseems that there are some situations in which nearby monsters (in general)do not prevent eating. I don't read c code, and was unable to make further observations which made sence opf the pheonominon. Love to hear frome 1 who knows.Slarty 20:40, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

Nearby Elbereth-respecting monsters don't interrupt you eating if you are on Elbereth. No monsters interrupts you eating if you're eating for only 1 turn. Lichens do interrupt you - I wizmoded it with 8 lichens and several huge chunks of meat. --Tjr
