reveal your location?

"lamps reveal your location to monsters" is that a true thing? i don't think that's a true thing. also, i don't think it would be meaningful. i was under the impression that monsters always know your location and home in on it without trouble, but they randomly move/attack the wrong spot if you have invis or displacement running, which makes it seem like they don't know where you are.
