Lens changes when cursed

What do cursed pairs of lenses do differently than non-cursed? I've been playing with a cursed pair on for quite a while, and didn't notice anything different.69.72.2.70 19:26, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

The only difference I can tell is that you can't take them off. I don't see anything anything the source that says they do anything differently. I even tried throwing them and they don't slip out of your hands. Addps4cat 20:19, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
Where'd TDTTOE go? They should shatter when you throw them :P Fredil Yupigo 21:04, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
They should, and they do. They're made of glass. -- Marcmagus 22:48, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

Lens protection

I've been creamed by a pie while wearing lenses. Exactly what protection are they supposed to offer?

It would be logical to think that after you've been creamed by a pie, you could take off your lenses and be able to see again, however, a pair of lenses doesn't provide this type of protection in NetHack.
What they do provide protection from is the ravens' blinding attack and spat venom. That's about it... I'm guessing the article is wrong here...
A pair of lenses protects your eyes from ... thrown cream pies
The Eyes of The Overworld, an artifact pair of lenses also provide protection from blinding and Archon's stunning gaze.

Finding Lenses

Does anyone know where lenses would be generated and at what frequency? Nenaile 22:51, 23 September 2011 (UTC)

They can be found in the same place as any other tool. They're light enough to be dropped by tiny monsters. Lenses have a relative probability of 5 according to the source code; for reference, a blindfold has a probability of 50 and a magic marker has a probability of 15. -- Qazmlpok 23:12, 23 September 2011 (UTC)
Excluding death drops and a few rare corner cases, 11.3% of all games have at least one pair of lenses in the Dungeons of Doom above including Medusa, 8.3% in the Mines, 3.1% in mine town, and 18.7% in those places combined. So shops are the most likely place, followed by the random tools in the mines. And of course, the monk quest always has an artifact pair of lenses. --Tjr 14:49, 24 September 2011 (UTC)
