The angelic beings are a class of NetHack monster, represented by the overall glyph A. They include:
All angelic beings are created with blessed erodeproof long swords and non-cursed erodeproof [large shield]]s[1]; there is a 1/20 chance that these will be converted respectively into either Demonbane or Sunsword (if these don't exist yet) and a shield of reflection unless the being is an Archon (where the chance is a guarantee).
