The attendant, @, is a Healer quest guardian. Like player and player monster healers, they have intrinsic poison resistance.

Attendants can grow up to become healers.[1]

The following information pertains to an upcoming version (NetHack 3.7.0). If this version is now released, please verify that it is still accurate, then update the page to incorporate this information.

Attendants are now neutral, as per healers (and healer player monsters).
