An axe is a kind of melee weapon. Axes do an extra d4 damage against wood golems.[1]
Axes are throwable, and quite useful on doors because it always succeeds on a normal door, but will not destroy a shop door. You can also apply an axe to a tree but it is not currently possible to apply them to corpses.
Barbarians start with an axe as a secondary weapon 50% of the time.[2]
