Finally, my current Neutral Male Wizard got Magicbane after praying at the (converted) shrine in Minetown.
But before that I was granted a spellbook of Dig and a spellbook of Detect Unseen.
Is this specific to the Nethack.alt server, or should the documentation be updated ?
Specifically, in the Magicbane page:
Wizards receive Magicbane as their first gift from their god after sacrificing at an altar.
