The Gnomish mines are a branch of the main dungeon, usually used by adventurers to gain experience and useful tools. Typically, with the exception of the minetown and the end of the mines, all the levels are simple caverns containing 7 gnomes, 2 dwarves, a gnome lord, 2 random G and one random h. They will have 6 random traps, one tool, and 3 random gems or piles of gems. Typically, any random monsters will be lawful. The typical gambit is to go to the first level of the mines and grab a dwarvish mithril coat from somebody there, then go down to the Oracle, then go back to the mines and continue to the end.
