The helm of brilliance is the most common ascension kit helmet. Each point of positive enchantment on the helm increases the wearer's intelligence and wisdom by one. This boost, among other things, makes spellcasting more effective.
Even though the helm of brilliance is metal, it does not hinder spellcasting.[1]
The Mitre of Holiness's base item type is the helm of brilliance; as such you can determine whether a helmet is brilliance or not by using the naming artifacts trick.
