A pseudodragon, D, is a type of monster that appears in dNetHack and notdNetHack. It is a carnivorous and domestic dragon-like creature that has several stages of growth. Pseudodragons have a tendency to wander, will pick up gold and gems, and can be seen via infravision.

A pseudodragon has a bite attack and a weak breath weapon similar to that of half-dragons.

Generation

Pseudodragons are not randomly generated. A tiny pseudodragon can grow up into a pseudodragon, and a pseudodragon can grow up into a riding pseudodragon.

Origin

Pseudodragons originate from Dungeons & Dragons, where they resemble true dragons in appearance but are usually far smaller and far more docile, which makes them suitable as familiars for wizards. They do not usually grow to the sizes shown in dNetHack and notdNetHack, which rivals that of the true dragons in those variants.
