The scroll of flood is an item added in UnNetHack. It also appears in Slash'EM Extended.
Generation
In addition to random generation, a scroll of flood will be generated on top of a gravestone that reads "Apres moi, le deluge"; the phrase is French for "After me, the flood".
Effects
Reading a scroll of flood causes a flood which creates pools of water around you.[1]
If the scroll is uncursed, it creates water around you in a similar fashion to an overflowing fountain, but with a higher probability per square, and a chance of including your own square. If the scroll is blessed, it will not create a pool underneath you. A cursed scroll restricts the flood to the square you're standing on, which could be useful when levitating over a tile of lava with something valuable sunk into it.
If read while confused, the scroll instead removes a circle of water from around you, with the radius dependent on its BUC status.
In Slash'EM Extended, the scroll of flood may be read by monsters as well; none of the pools will be created directly underneath the player in this case.
Other variants
xNetHack's scroll of water is very similar, except it will never create a pool of water under the player.
