Allows you to learn the detect food spell.

Effects

Casting this spell has the same effect as the scroll of food detection, and grants the food appraisal intrinsic. This spell is the only one in NetHack which does not cause spell hunger at all -- therefore it can be good to train divination spells.

This spell detects and reveals the location of all comestibles on the level, including those on the ground and those in monster inventories. If cast at skilled or expert, you acquire the food appraisal intrinsic additionally.

Strategy

The obvious use is if you are short on food you can cast this spell to find food on the level. Beware, NetHack will display all comestibles including tainted and poisoned corpses and corpses that can cause petrification or other harmful effects.

The food appraisal intrinsic is useful to prevent issues from food including food poisoning, petrification and breaking conducts, however it will only warn you once before the intrisic is lost and will need to be reapplied. It also has some bugs.
