The chances of success are 1 in 8 at Expert, 1 in 10 at Skilled, 1 in 12 at Basic, and 1 in 14 at Unskilled or Restricted.
This spell has too high a level, and too high a failure rate even when cast successfully, to be useful for most characters. Non-wizards will find the spell hunger to be fairly costly, not to mention the time spent recovering their power. Moreover, the spell cannot give the effect of a blessed scroll. Only wizards might consider using the spell to save themselves a few charges on their magic markers.
