recently fought barrow wight and found it resists death ray; =>magic resistance?

It's M2_UNDEAD monst.c#line2037 so it resists it:

2975. 		    if (nonliving(mon->data) || is_demon(mon->data) ||
2976. 			    resists_magm(mon)) {	/* similar to player */

-Recently got beaten up by a Barrow Wight. Lost 2 exp levels from getting hit. Message was "The Barrow wight hits" "Goodbye level 8" and then 7. Then I killed it. I have no evidence. It just happened. Just me or something that happens?
