New Creatures in dNethack

  • b
    • b Shoggoth: Fast (speed 15). Its suction melee attack can inflict leg injuries, pull your weapon out of you hand, or even suck the head right off your shoulders.
  • d
    • b anuban jackal: Fast (speed 18). Powerful bite attack (2d20). Morphs into anubite.
  • e
    • e monoton: Very slow (speed 1). Has a paralysis touch attack and a paralysis passive gaze attack (1d10 turns).
    • e duton: Very slow (speed 2). Has a paralysis touch attack (2d10), a passive paralysis gaze (1d20), and a claw attack (2d2). Death or promotion promotes a monoton somewhere on the level into a duton.
    • e triton: Very slow (speed 3). Paralysis passive gaze (1d30), paralysis touch (3d10), claw attack (3d2), stunning kick (3d3). Death or promotion promotes a duton into a triton.
    • e quaton: Slow (speed 4). Passive paralysis (1d40), paralysis touch (4d10), claw (4d2), stunning kick (4d3), mage spells. Promotes a triton on death or promotion.
    • e quinon: Slow (speed 5). Passive paralysis (1d50), paralysis touch (5d10), claw (5d2), stunning kick (5d3), mage spells, sleeping gas breath weapon (5d5). Promotes a quaton on death.
    • e beholder: Slow (speed 4). Attacks with two random gaze attacks per turn. Turns a paralyzing gaze on attackers.

    • f tiger: vanilla monster.
    • f son of Typhon: Very low AC (-20).
  • g
    • g nightgaunt: Fast (speed 16) and comes in packs. Does little damage, but has a paralyzing tickle attack. Can't tickle through cloaks or body armor, but can remove these items if given the chance.

    • h deep one: Slow (speed 9) but strong in melee. The more deep ones are slain, the stronger the survivors will become.
    • hdeeper one: Strong melee fighter. The more deep ones are slain, the stronger the survivors will become.
    • h gnoll: Travels in groups.
    • h anubite: Travels in groups. Transforms into anuban jackal.

    • iiii legion devil grunt, soldier, lieutenant, and captain: Demonic soldiers.
  • j
    • j aoa droplet: a highly reflective drop of pure magic.
    • j aoa: a highly reflective sphere of pure magic.

    • n swamp nymph: Cursed nymph. May release deadly spores when struck.
  • p
    • p heaven piercer: A slightly stronger piercer found in hell.
  • s
    • s phase spider: A rapidly teleporting arachnid that can phase through walls and translocate its prey.

    • t baby metroid: a nearly helpless larval metroid. It is not yet able to drain life force.
    • t metroid: Vulnerable to cold, but resistant to fire. Has a level-draining bite.
    • t alpha metroid:Vulnerable to cold, but resistant to fire. Has a level-draining bite.
    • t gamma metroid: Has an electric touch attack as well as a level-draining bite. Vulnerable to cold, but resistant to fire.
    • t zeta metroid: Fast (speed 15). Spits acid. Has a level-draining bite. Can phase through walls. Vulnerable to cold, but resistant to fire.
    • t omega metroid: Has a strong bite attack, two level-draining claw attacks, and an electric breath attack. Can phase through walls. Vulnerable to cold, but resistant to fire.
    • t metroid queen: Slow (speed 10). Attacks with two level draining bite attacks per turn. Has a digestion attack. Spits acid. Can phase through walls. Can't be kept as a pet, she will revert to peaceful at the start of her next turn. Vulnerable to cold, but resistant to fire.
  • w
    • w hunting horror: Fast (speed 16). Travels in groups. Flies.
  • x magical insects
    • x bebelith: Very fast (speed 24). Does not move diagonally. Its razor sharp claws shred armor.
  • A
    • A Solar: Fast (speed 17). Fires volleys of enchanted silver arrows. Has a blinding gaze attack. Casts mage spells.
  • B
    • B parrot: commonly kept as pets by pirates
    • B crow: Highly social bird that travels in large flocks.
    • B byakhee: Very fast (speed 20) has a stunning sting attack. Travels in groups.
  • E
    • E lethe elemental: Rare, stupendously dangerous elemental being. Fast (speed 15). Its engulf attack wipes memories and makes magic items mundane. Weapons that strike it become less magical.
  • F
    • F migo worker: Caries gems. Can dig through walls. Highly vulnerable to heat, immune to cold.
    • F migo soldier: May be armed with a wand of lightning. Immune to heat and cold. Can create fog clouds.
    • F migo philosopher: May be armed with a wand of lightning. Casts mage spells. Can drain large amounts of intelligence in melee. Highly vulnerable to heat, immune to cold.
    • F migo queen: Armed with a wand of lightning. Casts cleric spells. Drains a large amount of intelligence in melee. Highly vulnerable to heat, immune to cold.
    • F phantom fungus: Permanently invisible, mindless, teleports away after a successful attack.
  • H
    • H Minotaur Priestess: Immune to Elbereth, deals less melee damage but casts elemental priestess spells.
    • H Deepest One: Strong melee fighter. The more deep ones are slain, the stronger the survivors will become.
  • J
    • J Vorpal Jabberwok: Only average speed (speed 12), but extremely dangerous in melee, with high damage and two vorpal claw strikes per turn.
  • K The Keystone Kops have been removed and replaced with the Keter Sephiroth.
    • K Malkuth Sephirah: Enforcers of the Law that fugitives will be punished. Very fast (speed 24). Spawn in large numbers. Attack deals 1d4 electrical damage and entangles the target, preventing escape and frustrating counterattacks.
    • K Yesod Sephirah: Enforcers of the Law that bargains will be respected. Strong attacker with no special effects.
    • K Hod Sephirah: Enforcers of the Law that one's personal principles will be upheld. Fast (speed 18). Attacks with a duplicate of your currently equipped weapon.
    • K Gevurah Sephirah: Enforcers of the Law that mortals will die when killed. Fast (speed 15). Makes high-damage attacks with electricity and stunning fists.
    • K Chokhmah Sephirah: Enforcers of the Law that the Law will be enforced. Makes many high-damage attacks. Increases in power over time.
  • L
    • L death knight: Fast (speed 18). High-damage, teleporting melee attacker with a powerful weapon and a freezing touch.
  • O
    • O ogre mage: Casts mage spells.
    • O siege ogre: Slow (speed 6). Fires up to 12 arrows from range, and attacks with 4 weapon attacks in melee. Has acidic blood.
  • P
    • P darkness given hunger: A fast (18), permanently invisible, mindless menace. Has a corrosive bite and a digestion attack.
  • T
    • T wood troll: Corpse is considered vegan.
  • U: class renamed "Unknown Abominations."
    • U uvuudaum: Fast (speed 16), phases through walls. Has a confusing gaze attack. Attempts to remain a knights-move away from its target. Headspike attack has a reach of 2 squares. Headspike is considered poisoned, drains wisdom, inflicts amnesia, and may smash your head, causing instant death. Poison resistance also offers partial protection from the wisdom drain. If forced into melee, attacks with 4 additional claw attacks, attempts to teleport you away, and attempts to teleport itself away.
  • W
    • W phantasm: Spawns in large groups. Steals items and intrinsics. Attempts to put its victims to sleep. May be spawned already under a variety of status ailments.
  • Y
    • Y gug: Fast (speed 18). Travels in groups. High damage melee attacker with a paralyzing bite. Can steal items.
  • Z
    • Z gnoll ghoul: Has a paralyzing bite attack. Wields weapons to attack.
  • '
    • ' spell golem: Casts mage spells. Leaves behind random scrolls when destroyed.
    • ' treasury golem: Slow (speed 9). Poisonous breath. Leaves behind gold and gems when destroyed.
    • ' retriever: Claw attacks can destroy armor. Teleports. Attempts to teleport its victims. Has electrical, fire, and cold gaze attacks.
  • @
    • @ nurse: Now use their heal attacks only on allied creatures. Tame nurses will heal players and pets, hostile nurses will heal monsters.
    • @ maid: Tidies up the dungeon by gathering loose items. May repair or discard damaged items. Attacks with weapons.
  • &
    • & fallen angel: Attacks with weapons and magic missiles.
    • & ancient of ice: Slow (speed 8). Makes high-damage weapon attacks. Has a cold gaze and uses cold magic. Explodes in a freezing burst when killed.
    • & ancient of death: Very slow (speed 4). Attacks with high-damage weapons. May drain levels, may behead victims. Non-elemental explosion when killed.
    • & balrog: Now explodes in a fire-elemental blast when killed.
    • & nessian pit fiend: A more dangerous pit fiend.
    • & shayateen: Fast (speed 18). Has a vorpal rend attack.
  • :
    • : giant turtle: Very slow (speed 2). Very low AC (-20). Obstructs vision like a boulder.
