Characteristics
Players killed under most normal circumstances will become a ghost when their bones file is loaded.
Common traits
Ghosts have the following traits in common:
- They are humanoid.
- They are human sized.
- They are breathless.
- They are undead.
- They are unsolid.
- They are very slow, with a speed of 3.
- They are capable of flight and phasing.
- They will follow a nearby player to other levels.
- They resist cold, sleep and poison, disintegration, and stoning.
- They cannot be genocided.
- They are always generated hostile.
Variants
SpliceHack and EvilHack introduce a new member of the ghost monster class:
In xNetHack, this monster class does not exist; ghosts and shades are merged into the W wraith class.
