Press o to open a door. After pressing the key the user will be prompted for a direction in which to open.

After opening a door successfully, the door will remain open unless closed or zapped with a wand of locking, or with wizard lock spell.

Attempting to open down (>) will not allow you to open a container. Try l to loot or #tip.
