In NetHack, the number seven (or 7) is not used to represent anything by default. However, it can still solve the following purposes:
- 7 and the other number keys can be used to specify a numeric prefix for a command or in a menu.
- If numpad movement is on, press 7 to move north-west.
- Some players also change the "monsters" option in the options file to utilize unused symbols like 7 for certain purposes, e.g. usually to represent golems in place of the apostrophe, (') or sea monsters in place of the semicolon ;, and make them easier to see.
Variants
dNetHack
In dNetHack, lawful angels and minions use the 7 glyph.
dNetHack moves the existing lawful angelic beings and minions to this glyph and adds several more monsters that use the glyph:
