Tropes are storytelling devices and conventions that a writer can reasonably rely on as being present in the audience members' minds and expectations.
Tvtropes.org is a large wiki (over 40,000 articles in the main section)[1] with articles on tv shows, films, video games, books, web comics, and many more types of media. As of June 2024, the tvtropes article on NetHack lists over 250 tropes they found in the game.
