There seems to be an error here. Twice now, my character (human rogue) has been killed by someone with this wand. The 'will not be used by monsters' flag is untrue.
Both were in the Gnomish mines, at character level 10 or 11. I don't know whether the elf and centaur were created with it in their inventory, or if they found it and picked it up. I never even saw the centaur until the move where he killed me - the level was dark. --Emdoub (talk) 15:40, 21 August 2019 (UTC)
