I wasn't sure where to post my first ascension bragging post so I figured I'd come here XD
I finally made my first ascension with a neutral gnomish wizard! I'm 25 and have been playing this game off and on since I was 11. I can't believe I made it through since I made so many horrible mistakes. I lost my first amulet of life saving on my quest... I don't even know what happened but I couldn't act for what felt like hundreds of turns. I also lost three other amulets of life saving in one fight against an archon on the plane of earth when I was pinned against a wall while surrounded by the archon's summoned nasties. I somehow managed to slip out and hide, where I passively regained some health while I managed to wrest a final wish from my wand and came out swinging with a blessed half-eaten chickatrice corpse.
I won't go on about all the details, but suffice it so say it was a hell of a ride. I nearly died a million times and I'm shocked I made it through. I know a big part of my ascension was getting lucky and having the first shrine be my neutral shrine. I was so banged up with my brains half-eaten, spells forgotten, potions shattered, items cursed (including my ring of conflict which I had on while entering the astral plane), that having a short sprint to the finish line was the only way I was going to make it.
I had to go somewhere and post about this, but I wasn't sure where to go posting. Anyway, thanks for reading.
