A chest is a container item found scattered in the dungeon. Chests often hold other items, but some are generated empty.

A few chests are unlocked, but many are generated locked. To unlock a chest, you can:

  • Use a key, credit card or lockpick on it.
  • Zap a wand of opening at it.
  • #Force the lock with a weapon, either smashing it or prying the lock. This method destroys the lock, and depending on the method can break your weapon or break some of the items inside.
  • Kick it; this often destroys some of the items inside. Generally a last resort method.

When found in shops, chests are a common disguise of mimics; however, you will occasionally find a legitimate chest.

Chests are popular as a storing place for stashes.
