A cloak of protection provides 3 points of AC (higher than other cloaks) and MC3. If enlightened while wearing the cloak, you are told "You are protected", the same message as that for divine protection. However, the cloak provides no special abilities beyond a better AC than other cloaks, and can burn or rot unless fixed. It auto identifies when worn.
Sporkhack
In Sporkhack, a wizard may (always?) start with one of these instead of the cloak of magic resistance.
